2025 CAMPAIGN: “Living Green”
As the Highland Heights Green Task Force comes to the end of our 15th year, I could not be more thankful for all the support over the years! We have so many wonderful members who spend many hours volunteering and working events.
Freecycle/E-Waste Event Success!
In June, we hosted yet another successful Freecycle/E-Waste drive, with 21 Volunteers. This is only possible because of these generous individuals, including those who bring donations and often stay to shop. So many “new treasurers” to be found! The E-Waste drive brought in 1,977 lbs. of e-waste, bringing the total over the years to over 20,000 lbs. saved from the landfill.
I will be handing over the organization of the 2026 Freecycle/E-Waste event to Highland Heights resident and HHGTF member, Kristi Pinkley. Kristi “shadowed” me this year and appears to be well prepared to take on the task. Please watch for emails coming from her in spring of 2026. Thank you, Kristi!
Green Paper Products Field Trip
Our annual August field trip was held right here in Highland Heights. For those who do not know, we have a wonderful company right on Alpha Drive called Green Paper Products. We were given a very interesting and informative tour of their facility. Their curated products are crafted from compostable or recyclable materials, ensuring that your choice supports the reduction of landfill waste. The company will sell to the public, but orders are to be placed online at https://greenpaperproducts.com/.
The Little Free Library, located in the park in front of the pool house, has always been well used. Thank you to resident Ellen Schwartz and HHGTF member Frank and Beth Popotnik, for keeping it stocked. Please feel free to help with this effort.
The 14th Zero Waste Potluck dinner was held at the Highland Heights Park Barn…another well attended event, complete with great company and food! Thank you all who attended!
