2025 CAMPAIGN: “Living Green”
And here we are, starting the 15th year of the HHGTF! Once again, I am so thankful for all the support from the community over the past years and want to thank everyone in advance going forward into 2025 for continued support and giving of your time working the upcoming events!
On February 5th, Highland Heights resident, President of Friends of Euclid Creek, and member of our HHGTF organization, Bill Hughes, gave a very encouraging and educational presentation on “What does Highland Heights have to do with Cuyahoga River Area of Concern?”Bill’s presentation covered the renovation and efforts to clean-up and revitalize the Cuyahoga River, efforts that have been in the process for years…and have turned a once very polluted river into a now healthier water source where kayakers are often seen. Thank you for a wonderful presentation, Bill!
Our 2025 campaign, “Living Green” will address ways in which we can all live more environmentally friendly life styles. The following are a few simple actions that you might take:
REUSE (REPURPOSE)
- Reduce taking restaurant to-go containers by taking your own Pyrex (or other washable/reheatable) container for leftovers when dining out.
- Reduce food waste going into trash….steep lemon or orange peels in vinegar to make a great cleaning spray.
- Reduce taking a plastic bag while shopping at stores (not grocery shopping), by rolling up a plastic bag, cover with rubber band and keep in your purse or car.
- Reduce use of plastic wrap by switching to an alternative product like Bee’s Wrap to cover food containers.
- Reduce your trash waste by starting (or continuing) a compost system. Anyone interested in finding out how, please contact Judy.
